Dear Shihan, Sensei and all Karateka,

It is indeed a great pleasure, on behalf of the Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate Do Federation, Ken Nin Kai dojos and the Canadian Koshiki Karate Federation to invite you and your students to attend the sixth Toronto Koshiki Karatedo Championships, to be held on March 15th, 2008 at the Crescent Town Club Facilities. Students can compete in Kata and/or Shai divisions. The tournament will be conducted under the latest International World Koshiki Karate Federation Rules. See attached rule sheet for local considerations. Pre registration for all competitors is required via email by March 1st. Please send the following information; Gender, Age, Rank, Height and Weight for all competitors. Divisions will be formed based on Size, Age, Rank and Gender. Competitor check-in begins at 9:00 A.M and the tournament will begin promptly at 10:00 A.M. Following the tournament will be a banquet, at the cost of $15.00. All are welcome to attend. Follow Victoria Park until Crescent town rd. (about 1km after St.Clair)
Turn Right on Crescent Town Rd,

From QEW (USA)

Take QEW east to Toronto,
Exit at 427 North,
Take 427 North to 401East
Take 401 East and follow directions above.

The closest Hotel to the Tournament is the Ramada at 401 and Don Valley Parkway (approx. 10 min from Tournament). Please let me know if you will need the hotel booked for you. Also please feel free to organize your own hotel accommodations should you wish

Rule Sheet


Both Kata and Shiai divisions will be conducted under International WKKF rules. The following local considerations have been revised.

1. Sweeping and throwing techniques will only be permitted on the matted Shiaijo. Matches conducted on wooden floor will not be permitting sweeping or throwing techniques.
2. For Shiai junior divisions (under 16 years of age), matches will be 2 min. with 1 min. allotted for overtime (Encho Sen) and 1 min. for sudden-death overtime (Sai Encho Sen). All adult divisions and Black Belt will be 3 min. with 1 min. overtime.
3. The use of protective equipment for the hands only is permitted for junior divisions ages 13 and under and below the rank of green Belt, but are not mandatory. Feet and/or shin protections MAY be permitted if referee judges that an injury warrants protections.
4. The use of groin protector is manditory.
5. The use of mouth guard is permitted but not mandatory.
6. Only official Super Safe Head gear will be permitted for use in Shiai divisions. Acceptable substitute chest protectors will be allowed.
